Abstract

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease which
has predilection for female gender. Usually, it manifests as myriad of
clinical signs and symptoms which can involve any organ system of the
body, however cardiovascular involvement solely as an initial
presentation is uncommon. Here we present a case of a male patient
who initially presented with a large pericardial effusion. Later, on
extensive workup he was diagnosed with SLE with lupus nephritis.
